This year they give the following teachings:

For thousands of years the Tibetan spiritual traditions have cultivated meditation practices to offer compassionate spiritual support to the dying and prepare ourselves for a peaceful and conscious death. In this weekend retreat Tempa Dukte Lama will give an introduction to the Tibetan teachings on the process of dying. He will then offer the teaching and transmission of Phowa practice. Phowa is the practice of transference of consciousness when an individual approaches death or has passed. It is a path of liberation traditionally used by great masters to liberate the consciousness of self and other at the moment of death. At the moment of death our body and consciousness separate. Through Phowa practice we help the consciousness of the deceased or dying person liberate. Phowa is also used to clear the causes of the six realms of existence, the karmic traces that bind us to the cyclic continuum of suffering, and to unify our mind with the primordial purity. Tempa Lama will give the teaching and instruction on how to practice Phowa and how to use it to clear karmic conditioning.

2020: Being with Dying – The Bardo
Contemplative Tibetan Bon Retreat with Tempa Dukte Lama
When? In 2020, Ma Chig Ling Centre, Netherlands
For thousands of years, the Tibetan spiritual traditions have cultivated meditation practices to offer compassionate spiritual support to the dying and prepare ourselves for a peaceful and conscious death.
In this weekend Retreat Tempa Dukte Lama will share the Tibetan teachings on the process of dying and the different stages of Bardo, the transition beginning at the moment of death. The Tibetan word ‘Bardo’ is made up of “Bar” – the “between state” where the consciousness has left this body and not yet taken another body; and “Do”– the consciousness that is without the physical support of a body. We will learn about the psychological, mental, emotional and physical shifts that take place during the dying process. We will gain a deeper understanding of our mortality and our potential to transition peacefully and with deep awareness at the moment of death. We will explore how we can help the dying person as a compassionate and spiritual friend based on his or her needs. Tempa Lama will teach contemplative practices that we can utilize to help and guide the dying person.
This Workshop is for all who would like to look deeply into the meaning of death and dying within the framework of a spiritual path. It is for all who want to approach their own mortality with peace, acceptance and awareness, and for those who would like to offer psychological and spiritual support to the dying, including family members. It is suited for medical professionals, psychologists, counselors, and social workers working with dying and illness.
